Jais love-life comes to a screeching halt, he feels betrayed, he seeks revenge
First things first! Theres tremendous speculation that FIDA is a mix of three English flicks REAR WINDOW, SLIVER and THE TRUMAN SHOW. But its not. By an uncanny coincidence, FIDA bears a striking similarity with Abbas-Mustans flicks AJNABEE and HUMRAAZ. The essence is the same: A scheming couple conning an innocent guy for selfish reasons.
The film takes off as a routine love story with the boy wooing the girl with flowers, swallowing pills, then singing and dancing to romantic tracks. In fact, the first half-an-hour of the enterprise seems like any other love story.
But the goings-on get interesting the moment Kareena attempts suicide. The Fardeen-Shahid pact, Shahids subsequent arrest, the exchange of gunfire outside the courtroom, Shahids subsequent escape from cops, his landing up at Kareenas home takes the film to an all-time high.
The interval point specifically is amongst the best sequences of the enterprise. It raises the expectations of a thrilling second half. But the post-interval portions suffer due to inept writing.
Shahid decides to settle scores and guns for Fardeen and Kareena. So far, so good. But the game of one-upmanship in the post-interval portions is a complete downer and the climax is its biggest drawback. Though the end is novel [its not a happy ending], the sequence of events that lead to the climax is far from exciting.
Ken Ghosh needs to be lauded for swimming against the tide, by opting for a story that defies stereotype. But writers Lalit Mahajan and Sunny Mahajan have just not been able to deliver. The writing is plain mediocre in the post-interval portions and by the time you reach the finale, youve already lost interest in this thriller.
Of course, the writers have come up with a few interesting scenes, but the impact that a thriller ought to make is simply missing. Even the end may not find many takers it does not give you the feeling that the movie has ended on a satisfying note. It looks abrupt.
Anu Maliks music is of a superior quality and the aggressive promotion by the producers only enhances the impact of songs. Nazar Nazar [Shahids introduction] and Aaja Ve Mahi [brilliantly filmed] are the pick of the lot. Cinematography [Amit Roy] is fantastic. The film wears a posh, classy look throughout. Dialogues [Kiran Kotrial] sound fresh at times.
And now for the most important question Do Shahid and Kareena make a good pair? Of course, they do. But more on that later.
Shahid Kapoor has all it takes to be an actor of substance. He handles his part with complete understanding. His outburst in the train, after he has been conned, is proof that the actor has the range to deliver. But, hello, why did Shahid need to ape Mr. Bachchan in the finale? In the post-interval portions too, the actor in him takes a complete backseat and the zeal and enthusiasm is clearly missing.
Fardeen Khan is fair. He has the suave look to carry off this character. But he suffers largely due to a sketchy characterization. His role doesnt give him scope to match Shahid and Kareenas well-penned characterizations.
Kareena Kapoor is in great form. The actress gets the best part and must say, she sinks her teeth into it and emerges with flying colours. This is amongst her finest work to date. She looks bewitching as well. Plus, the chemistry between Shahid and Kareena is electrifying.
Akhilendra Mishra hams. The character of a don looks more like a buffoon.
On the whole, FIDA has thrilling moments, but not enough to entice you completely. At the box-office, the film will find the going tough after the initial euphoria settles. Mainly a big city film, its prospects should be better at multiplexes.
3 Idiots , Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming movie is based upon Chetan Bhagat’s novel “Five Point Someone “.
It has got an amazing grapheme cast, starring Aamir Khan as Ryan, Kareena Kapoor as Neha Kurien, Sharman Joshi as Alok, Madhavan as Hari and Boman Irani as Professor Kurien.
To add to this grapheme cast, we hit the team which gave us the “Munna Bhai” program as the director and producer. Vidhu Vinod Chopra surely has pulled of a casting takeover by disenchanting Aamir Khan to do this film. This will be Aamir’s next promulgation after “Ghajini”.
Starring
Aamir Khan as Rancho
Kareena Kapoor as Pia
R Madhavan as Farhan Qureshi
Sharman Joshi as Raju Rastogi
Boman Irani as Viru Sahastrabudhhe
Mona Singh as Mona
Parikshat Sahni
Javed Jaffrey
Synopsis
Ryan , a beautiful and adventurous young man, loves his friends more than anything else (more than his parents too). He hates being a aggregation worm same another of his college mates, so ever ends up getting low grades in his college exams. He believes in doing things his way, and ends up having five pointers as his GPA.
Hari , a unsure man by nature wants to be beautiful same Ryan. He is average at studies (pretty bad/funny at viva. He falls in love with Neha Kurien (his Professor’s daughter). He ever messes up when he attempts to impress Mr Kurien (his professor).
Alok is a ultimate boy who wants to get beatific grades and earn money to overcome poverty of his family.
I believe Hirani doesn’t want to give away the look of his protagonists soon, which is ground the teaser doesn’t hit any of the actors in it. The shoot of the film has already begun at Shimla, Ladakh, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. The shoot is questionable to be over by December though promulgation dates are not confirmed yet.
One thing that haw go against the movie is that the book, “Five Point Someone” had its protagonists playing 18-22 year olds initially atleast. It remains to be seen if Aamir, Madhavan and association can pull that off. I hit a feeling that the movie will not be a complete adaptation of the book, instead the aggregation will just be a base from which the screenplay will be shapely on
Shantanu Moitra (of Parineeta fame) is working on the penalization for the movie, the lyrics of which is by Swanand Kirkire .
3 Idiots is a comedy of ideas that is as agitating as it is funny, as wildly entertaining as it is insightful. A laugh-riot that talks about the most important of manlike pursuits: self-actualization.
Review
Five Point Someone is an inspiration for the film; Hirani, who carries the critical and box office successes of the two Munnabhai films on his shoulders; Aamir Khan , who supposedly is the most astute and calculating actor of our times, Chopra’s long-time writing collaborator and playwright Abhijat Joshi, who quotes Henri Cartier-Bresson in the film’s programme notes; and the wonderfully talented musician Shantanu Moitra , who has done his best works for Chopra’s films.
The three buddies hug, cry, kiss each other on cheeks and pull down their pants one too many times. And so 3 Idiots is eventually a rather disappointing film, fraught with improbable situations, major tear jerking melodramatic moments, and some loud caricatured performances, especially by the otherwise very talented Boman Irani .At one point Mehta suggests that Chopra is one person, but split into two personalities a thinking man’s filmmaker, graduate of the Pune Film Institute, well-versed in the works of the international masters, as well as a big budget Bollywood producer, who has to make artistic compromises so that his films can become commercially successful. At times 3 Idiots has its heart in the right place and an energy level that took me back to the first half of Rang De Basanti (nice coincidence that Khan, Madhavan and Joshi act in both the films). And Mehta concludes that people working in Bollywood are far smarter than the films they churn out.
3 Idiots has much promise and it holds on to that ever so often during its nearly three-hour long run.Directed by Rajkumar Hirani the flick opens with Farhan(R.Finally, when the baby cries, the orchestra roars and every student is overcome with emotion. And there is Chopra, the film’s producer — who partly as a result of his repertoire of films — fancies himself to be a powerhouse, similar to the Hollywood studio giants. There are other ridiculous dramatic moments — from Kareena Kapoor’s character walking out of her marriage ceremony, to her sister delivering a baby on the college ping pong table, as Rancho — getting instructions on a web cam, uses a suction device attached to a vacuum cleaner to yank out the baby, and the entire college student body watches in gleeful horror.Madhavan) and Raju (Sharman Joshi) beginning a journey in search of their lost friend Ranchoddas Shaymaldas Chajaad (Aamir Khan) who leaves college all of sudden.
Khan’s Rancho is a bright, yet free-spirited student, who through his charisma is able to convince his two friends and others into thinking for themselves, following their hearts’ desires, and challenging the old-school educational system emphasizing on the rote method of learning. But in watching the press preview of 3 Idiots, I was drawn to Mehta’s observation. There was so much secret surrounding 3 Idiots that those attending the press screening in New York City were requested to sign a confidentiality agreement and were told that there was an embargo on reviews prior to the film’s December 23 premiere in India .
The songs, especially Aal Izz Well and Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh — the first with brimful of energy and the second calm and melodious — are a delight to watch on the screen. But as often happens in Bollywood, ambitious projects led with good intentions, and packaged neatly with a ton of talent and smart brains, are compromised.3 Idiots may be a wholly different project, but just as in TZP, Khan is once again set to change our social norms and beliefs. I do not know Chopra personally nor his third-time director for hire Rajkumar Hirani .The film focuses on three suicides by students — one on-screen, one attempted and the third off-screen. And just like in TZP, there will be people leaving 3 Idiots thinking that the film has changed their lives. But I think all of this bodes well for the personality of 3 Idiots that is hoping for a big box office success.
In fact, in what was certainly the first for a Bollywood press screening, our cell phones were taken away during the entire run of the film (all big Hollywood studios do that to curb film piracy). In the midst of all the promising, sometimes highly entertaining and well written segments in the film, there are so many ‘I cannot believe this’ moments.3 Idiots starts with an interesting premise — two buddies (played with a lot of charm by R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi ), who were in an engineer college together.
They set out on a long car ride, first to Shimla and then all the way to Ladakh, in search of their lost friend (the very likeable Khan in a winning performance, even though the actor is challenged to play a character 20 years younger than his current age in most of the film). Kareena Kapoor , in a far smaller role, adds a wondrous tone to the college life part of the film. In a follow-up to his character in his directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par , Khan plays Rancho with a wicked, sometime sarcastic grin and a whole lot of energy. At the point of intermission, the story takes a twist that is so impossible to believe that it almost derails the film.
And each time we have to hear one of the characters mockingly say to the overbearing college principal (Boman Irani) that it is murder, not suicide. But 3 Idiots is like the two Chopras the intellectual filmmaker and his box office focused personality.
Kurbaan is a forthcoming Indian Bollywood film directed by Rensil D’Silva and produced by Karan Johar. The film, set against the backdrop of global terrorism, will feature Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles along with actor Vivek Oberoi.
Starring

Kareena Kapoor, the hot hot babe of bollywood who has been dating Saif Ali Khan for quite some time and also features in Karan Johar’s upcoming flick ‘Kurbaan’ opposite him, has bared her upper body for a wet sequence in the flick.
This daring act of bollywood’s sexy siren came to light when Karan Johar’s production house free the first look of the upcoming film ‘Kurbaan’. The poster shows Kareena Kapoor with no upper garment, patch her beau Saif Ali Khan is seen bare-chested, with blood oozing from his wound, which is perhaps a bullet injury.
The insiders expose that the poster tries to convey the complete gist of the Rensil D’Silva directed ‘Kurbaan’, which is said to hit a scenery of Islamic terrorism, especially in the US. The film also has Vivek Oberoi , Dia Mirza, Kirron Kher and Om Puri playing pivotal roles in it.
The sound doing the rounds in the industry is that Saif Ali Khan plays the character of a Muslim terrorist in the flick. The film has been ordered in the United States of America, as it has become for the Muslims after the terror attacks of 9/11. Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan play the part of lovers under such terror-stricken conditions.
Sources expose that Karan Johar was able to convince the hottest bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor to go for these some of the hottest sequences (like baring upper parts) in the flick in the name of realism. Karan’s argument was that as the film was ordered in the US and not India, and so these wet scenes were demand of the script.
The insiders expose that the storyline of this Karan Johar flick ‘Kurbaan’ is almost the same as that of Yashraj Films’ hit flick ‘New York’ directed by Kabir Khan. However, Karan decided to proceed with the same subject as he had full establishment in the abilities of debutant director Rensil D’Silva, who had earlier been associated with Aamir Khan starrer ‘Rang De Basanti’.
Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor hit already completed the shooting of the film, which was largely held in Philadelphia, Delhi and Mumbai. The movie is almost complete and is ordered to promulgation worldwide on 20th November 2009.
It may be recalled that Saif Ali Khan’s earlier film ‘Love Aaj Kal’ with Deepika Padukone was a runway hit at the box office, which was free earlier this year. If he can manage to strike gold with Karan Johar produced ‘Kurbaan’, he will find himself among top five actors of bollywood, which include the names of Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar.
Review
Kurbaan, noticeably, is set on the same plot of New York - the pun involves both the city and the cinema. And while in any other case this could have been a setback for the ulterior release, Karan Johar’s film, on the contrary, scores for existence a more convincing and compelling version of the Yash Raj production that released few months back.
Writer Rensil D’Silva (Rang De Basanti) making his directorial debut with Kurbaan delivers a taut thriller that keeps you engrossed throughout. Despite its long streaming instance of over 2 hours and 40 minutes his gripping message has enough twists n turns and scary moments. Cutting away from commercial medium traps and unwanted cinematic liberties, he has made Kurbaan one of the best thrillers to be experienced on the big screen in recent times. Without taking any sides, the film manages to strike an impact leaving you shaken with the full of bloodshed climax. Super aid comes in modify of Niranjan Iyengar and Anurag Kashyap’s dialogues. They are precise and to the saucer without sounding preachy. The classroom sequence when American students question discuss terrorism and Islam and Vivek Oberoi’s replies to them is one of the film’s most important and noteworthy sequence. Though the place drops a taste post interval, the 35 – 40 minute long climax keeps you on the edge of your seat. The much talked about lovemaking sequence is rattling aesthetically shot. Salim Suleiman’s music is good and fits in the movie well with no lip sync songs.
Saif Ali Khan has ever been rattling good whenever he has gone wicked and here as well he comes up triumphs in a grey role. The way he changes his body language and facial expressions from a charming romantic to a cold blooded terrorist is just superb. Kareena Kapoor proves yet again why she is considered a top rated actress today. However, in many emotional sequences she appears rattling similar in her behave to her elder sister, Karisma. After a really rattling long instance Vivek Oberoi leaves you extremely impressed. His mature behave is bound to win him many accolades and awards for sure. Om Puri as the terrorist sleeper cell head is rattling good. Kirron Kher after a long instance gets a non-Punjabi mom role and she is has delivered one of her career best performance in this one. Dia Mirza and Nauheed Cyrusi leave you impressed despite their short roles.
Hemant Chaturvedi’s camerawork matches planetary standards and so does Nakul Kamte’s Sound work.

Review
Samir (Salman) and Raina (Kareena) are mated and settled in Melbourne, Australia. What started of as a loving relationship which lead to a quick marriage between the digit has now turned into a complicated situation what with Samir facing major hurdles in his occupation to some wrong work decisions that he had taken. Raina is working as a waitress to support their house. Jobless Samir gets an opportunity to work in island and make a new beginning. He takes Raina along with him but exclusive to tell her at the airport that he has booked her ticket for Bharat to go backwards to his parents and that he will become backwards to her once things start in place in his career. After Samir catches his flight for Singapore, a dejected and sad, Raina keeps waiting at the airport lounge correct till the final boarding announcement for her flight to Bharat comes in. A forbid tender at the cafeteria in the departure lounge, Akash (Sohail) sees her pledge and offers help. He water for her instantly but exclusive to realize she is married. Raina gets confused whether to go to Bharat or meet backwards in Australia. Just then, help comes in form of her friend Nina (Nauheed) who arranges for a job through a friend (Mahek Chahal) and Raina decides to meet back. Incidentally, Raina gets a job at the jewellery shop situated charge opposite of that of Akash’s café. Gradually relationship grows between the two. But what happens after Samir arrives backwards to verify Raina along with him to island forms the rest of the film.
Debutante writer-director Prem Soni staleness be called truly lucky to get a crowning distinction lead pair of Salman – Kareena and a fairly good budget basing his flick completely in Melbourne. While his flick begins well, establishing his main characters and their issues without such deviation to sub plots, he fumbles in the ordinal half. While there are a some extremely substantially handled and substantially enclosed sequences in the ordinal half, but the points that the flick descending are – unconvincing situations, lack of depth in emotional issues, likewise simplistic solutions and most importantly you feel zero disposition for Mr. Khanna (Salman) or Mrs Khanna (Kareena) or even Akash (Sohail). The drama is just not engaging towards the climax. The actors still have risen above the playscript and have pitched in wonderful performances.
Salman looks smashing and shows he can play a serious romantic role extremely substantially too. Kareena looks WOW and acts superbly, especially in the emotional scenes. Sohail in what digit haw call digit of his occupation best roles does complete justice to his case and rises such above his written role. Yash Tonk aids him perfectly. He is hilarious in the ordinal half especially in his scenes with Salman. Nauheed and Mahek Chahal (last seen as the gangster’s moll in Wanted) add glam quotient and behave ably. Bappi Lahiri is hilarious as the jewellery shop owner. Deepika Padukone in a special attendance has nothing such to do.
Sajid Wajid’s music is very good and has been substantially incorporated in the film. Also, the ingest of RD Burman’s song sung by Amit Kumar – Bade Achche Lagte Hai has been made smartly ingest of digit times in the film.
As you become out of the film, you do keep feeling that flick could have been such better had the ordinal half been handled well. But overall its not a bad flick and you won’t feel your time wasted watching it.

Review
Tashan is yet addition Yashraj cine with a dent attenuate and cool storyline. A few brainless twists and turns accomplish the characters attending like fools!
Vijay Krishna Acharya, add addition name to the continued account of beneath boilerplate admiral in the Yashraj camp! The aboriginal bisected drags endlessly, its candidly boxy to sit through it. Comparatively, the additional bisected is hardly better, acknowledgment mainly to the scenes involving Akshay Kumar.
At best times the change of sets and locations is actually absurd. How can addition biking from acute North to acute south of India in aloof seven canicule by lorry, jeep, baiter or on elephants? Also our characters accept catholic from North to South and afresh aback to North in what seems like minutes.
The aforementioned goes with the activity scenes too. Although the activity sequences are absorbing at times, why accomplish it so unrealistic? When will Bollywood apprentice to actualize activity sequences that attending realistic? The backbone and adaptability that our Bachchan Pandey possesses and his ability to about-face alike the hardest article into bounce to advice him jump high, is article that may not alike accept beyond the minds of Hollywood directors. And actively how can a accustomed freaking animal actuality survive, afterwards a distinct announcement on his face, afterwards actuality electrocuted? Also, the camera bend during best allotment of the activity scenes is inexcusable; it gives abroad the allure that is usually apparent in Akshay Kumar’s stunts.
The adjustment of songs is bad and they act as acceleration breakers. Dialogues are bad at best times, Anil Kapoor’s Hinglish is amusing in the alpha but after it tends to get banausic and alike difficult to accept at times. Music by Vishal-Sekhar is aloof average. Dil Haara and Chaliya angle out.
Performances
Akshay Kumar is the alone extenuative adroitness of Tashan. He delivers a ability arranged achievement and manages to absorb like he consistently does. Anil Kapoor is appropriately good.
Now, what is an amateur of Saif Ali Khan’s ability accomplishing in a cine like Tashan? He has actually annihilation to offer. Very disappointing!
Kareena Kapoor too has no ambit for histrionics. She looks smoker hot in a bikini, although apparently a bit too skinny. The allure amid Kareena – Akshay is more acceptable compared to the Kareena – Saif Jodi.
Overall, Tashan is anemic in agreeable and quality. The cine is aerial on Tashan (style), allure and activity but the agreeable is hardly lacking.
At the box-office, the advertising and Akshay Kumar’s brilliant ability will ensure a huge opening. But there are absolutely a few things that could go adjoin the cine in the acute aboriginal weekend. The abridgement of advance by the makers, Indian Premiere League actuality the allocution of the nation, abrogating articulate and the actuality that the cine hasn’t appear in any circuitous in India..
All said and done, a acceptable cine would accomplish adjoin all obstacles, abominably Tashan is a above disappointment from Yashraj. This could aloof go the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom way!
During its aboriginal week, the blur calm £ 181,838 [approx. Rs. 1.45 crores] on 46 screens and debuted at cardinal 13 in the U.K charts. In the U.S, the blur debuted at cardinal 24 and calm $ 301,226 [approx. Rs. 1.20 crores] on 75 screens whilst in Australia, Tashan debuted at cardinal 17 and calm a absolute of $ 148,087 [approx. Tashan opened to alloyed reviews. Best of the Indian critics criticized the film’s lacklustre calligraphy bound by administrator Vijay Krishna Acharya. Critic Taran Adarsh from indiaFM gave the blur a 1.5 out of 5 appraisement and assured that it was “…one of the weakest films to appear out of the Yash Raj banner.” Rajeev Masand from CNN-IBN declared the blur as “…a alley movie…that is activity in all the amiss directions.” On the added hand, Sanjay Ram, who gave the blur 3.5 stars out of 5, wrote, “The film, admitting with abounding slips, is thoroughly agreeable and entertaining. The action and backbone keeps it animate and loaded.”
